“FLAMENCO ENTRE DOS ORILLAS” IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROJECT THAT HAS AS AN OBJECTIVE TO SHOW THE NEW STUDENT KEYS TO UNDERSTAND THE FLAMENCO THROUGH THE APPROACH AND THE UNDERSTANDING OF ANDALUSIAN ART IN CONTACT WITH OTHER MUSICIANS IN THE EAST.

The program consists of three blocks:

1.- INTRODUCCIÓN TEATRALIZADA:

A wandering gypsy woman who has been walking from India… tells us the story of her cousins (the Asian Indians, the origin of the current gypsies) since they arrived in Andalusia at the beginning of the 15th century, until today.

He is followed by an elegant tango singer who, in addition to his music, carries a message of brotherhood between cultures, tolerance and respect, of empathy towards those who for reasons of life are forced to emigrate from their countries of origin.

Both characters illustrate their experiences by using images that convey the value of music as a vehicle for cultural integration.

In this part, students will understand flamenco as an art born from the mixture of cultures and customs. We will also learn about the origins of Tango Rioplatense, the influence of Andalusian music on Latin American folklore and vice versa (songs of “ida y vuelta”) and the current connection between both shores perfectly illustrated in the repertoire of LA MILONGA FLAMENCA.

2. BASIC KEYS TO UNDERSTAND THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPASSES, RHYTHMS AND STYLES (“PALOS”) of Flamenco and Tango.

In this part two more musicians enter the scene to perform the activity with live music.

The students will participate interactively with the artists/rapporteurs in the development of the songs, putting into practice the teachings on accompaniment with palms, on guitar, cajón and dance, in the different styles; Tangos, bulerías, soleá, etc.

Likewise, you will discover in the Andalusian map the origin of each of the “palos” that make up the genealogical tree of the songs or styles reviewed in practice, locating in each of the provinces the characteristic seal that contribute to this universal art.

In the same way, they will learn the musical theory of the basic keys to understand Tango and will practice it with a practical dance class for couples.

3. CONCERT OF THE MILONGA FLAMENCA with the dance of MAYTE BELTRÁN

At this point, students will put into practice the acquired knowledge and enjoy live music.

For this purpose, the musicians will perform some of the usual themes of their repertoire, adapted to the quartet format for the occasion.

La Milonga Flamenca is a company of shows from Almeria with flamenco roots but with branches and South American leaves. The fruit is the harmonious fusion of both music and the students are shown as a gesture of understanding and dialogue between different cultures, which creates bonds of understanding and fosters affective bonds.

In 2009 and 2010, TANGO AND FLAMENCO, respectively, were officially declared by UNESCO as INTANGIBLE HERITAGE OF HUMANITY.

LA MILONGA FLAMENCA with this project is committed to continue expanding this heritage, bringing its music to new shores as a vehicle of twinning between cultures.

The FLAMENCO ENTRE DOS ORILLAS didactic project excites more than 300 high school students at the Teatro de El Ejido.
